How to choose towel products?

Before purchasing hotel linens, we cannot blindly make purchases. We need to first understand the configuration standards and service life of the hotel linens, as well as the standards for daily use and maintenance.

1. Configuration ratio of the hotel linen

Generally, the linen ratio for guest rooms should be 3:1. This means each room should be equipped with three sets of linens: one set in use, one set for laundry exchange, and one set as backup. A standard linen set primarily includes bed sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, etc.

2. Why we need backup linens?

If the hotel is located in a remote area with longer laundry turnaround times, the linen ratio should be increased to 4:1 or higher. This ensures sufficient linen supply during inclement weather (e.g., rain or snow), laundry facility closures, or unexpected situations requiring immediate linen replacement for guests.

3. How to arrange the quantity of linens in guest rooms?

The linen requirements for five-star hotel guest rooms are as follows:

  • Bed sheets: no fewer than two per bed;
  • Pillows: no fewer than two per bed;
  • Pillowcases: no fewer than two per bed;
  • Blankets: one wool blanket per bed;
  • Bedspreads: one per bed;
  • Bathrobes: one per bed;
  • Bath towels: two per room;
  • Hand towels: two per bed;
  • Bath mats: one per room;
  • Face towels: no fewer than two per room;
  • Mattress pads: two per bed.

4. For daily use and maintenance:

  • Linens exhibiting yellowing, thinning, thread pulling, damage, or stubborn stains/mold should be promptly decommissioned or specially treated.
  • Items with severe stains due to inadequate cleaning should be returned for re-washing immediately.
  • All linens must be retired after 120 washes, even if they appear intact.
  • Towels must be discarded if their weight falls below 95% of the original specification.

5. Management of the linen room

All linens must be stored in the linen room following the FIFO (first-in, first-out) principle to ensure rotation. Inventory records must be meticulously maintained, and new linen replenishment and laundering schedules should be systematically planned. This guarantees adequate linen reserves, enabling immediate provision whenever guests require replacements.
